Joseph Wolpe:
was an African-American psychiatrist. It forms currents behavioral psychology, known for his theories and experiences on the subject of what is now known as systematic desensitization of phobias.
Born in Johannesburg (South Africa), and later was naturalized as an American. He was professor of psychiatry at the School of Medicine at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, between 1965 and 1988.
He is known for his formulation of the principle of reciprocal inhibition or inhibition principle antagonist, which was the basis for the development of treatments that inhibited human fear.
